This ornamental grass features icy blue foliage reaching 8" high that grows in a compact tuft. Wheat colored seed heads grow approximately 4" above the plant in mid-summer. The seed heads can be cut back so the plant can focus its energy on the foliage, making it a more dense tuft.
These plants are perfect for garden edging and borders. Many gardeners grow Elijah Blue in containers as well, as it is a very compact plant. Elijah Blue is drought tolerant and does best in part shade, although full sun for part of the day is ok. This highly ornamental blue fescue does best when planted during the cool seasons (early Spring or late Fall), continuing to grow even during the Winter!
